Planning your bridal makeup in Ludhiana? A Punjabi wedding is rarely one day: there's the roka, the mehendi, the jaggo, the anand karaj or pheras, and the reception, often within a week. The good news is that with a simple plan, you can look fresh in every photo without last-minute panic. This guide walks you through a realistic three-month timeline, what to ask your makeup artist, and how to keep your makeup lasting through long ceremonies.

3 months before: skin first

Great bridal makeup starts with healthy skin. Three months gives you time to sort out dullness, tan, uneven texture and breakouts without trying anything harsh close to the wedding.

  • Book a skin consultation so a therapist can check your skin type and concerns.
  • Start a regular facial plan. Hydrating facials suit dry skin; deep-cleansing facials help oily, congested skin.
  • If you have tan from Punjab's summer sun, ask about de-tan treatments.
  • Begin threading and waxing on a regular cycle so your skin is calm by the wedding.
  • Drink enough water and keep your sleep regular. It shows on camera.

Important: avoid starting strong peels, new acne medicines or aesthetic treatments in the final month. Anything new should be tried well before, so your skin has time to settle.

2 months before: hair and the makeup trial

  • Hair: if you want colour, highlights or a smoothening or keratin treatment, do it now, not in the last week. Your stylist can then fix the shade or let the hair settle.
  • Makeup trial: book a trial with your artist. Take photos of your lehenga or suit colour, your jewellery (kundan, polki, gold) and your dupatta. Try the look in both daylight and indoor light.
  • Decide your looks for each function: a soft, fresh look for the mehendi, more glam for the reception, and a classic bridal look for the main ceremony.

1 month before: lock in the details

  • Confirm your timings with the artist for every function, including travel time to the venue.
  • Do your final colour touch-up or gloss two to three weeks before the wedding.
  • Book your pre-bridal package for the last weeks: facial, body polishing, manicure, pedicure and hair spa.
  • Choose your nail look. Nail extensions or gel polish should be done in the last week so they look fresh.

The final week

  • Get your last facial 5–7 days before the wedding, never the day before.
  • Do threading, waxing and your manicure and pedicure 2–3 days before.
  • Keep your skincare simple and avoid trying any new products.
  • Pack an emergency kit: blotting papers, safety pins, lipstick, a small mirror and tissues.

Questions to ask your bridal makeup artist

  • Which products and base will you use for long-wear and photos?
  • Will the look stay fresh through the pheras and a long reception?
  • Is draping of the dupatta or saree included?
  • Is the hairdo included, and do you add temporary extensions if needed?
  • How long will the makeup take, and when should I arrive?
  • Do you provide makeup for the bride's mother, sisters and friends?

How to make your makeup last through a long day

  • Prep the skin: a hydrated base holds makeup better than dry skin.
  • Thin layers: several thin layers last longer than one heavy layer.
  • Setting: a good setting spray helps makeup survive the warmth of lights and crowds.
  • Touch-ups: keep your lipstick and blotting papers with a sister or friend.
  • Eyes: waterproof liner and lashes are worth it for emotional moments.

Looks that suit Punjabi brides

  • Classic red bridal: defined eyes, a bold or deep red lip and a radiant base, perfect with red lehengas and gold or kundan jewellery.
  • Soft glam: warm tones, a glowing base and a nude or rosy lip, beautiful for day ceremonies.
  • Pastel bride: light, fresh tones for pastel lehengas and day functions.
  • Reception glam: smokier eyes, contouring and a sleek or voluminous hairdo.
